Tool # 11

1.  What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.
  • I will use Google Docs the most.  From Health Fitness students to Basketball it has a wide array of uses that will help my students and players become better informed. I will set up Scouting Reports for my Players and Quizzes for my  Health Fitness students.
2.  How have you transformed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom? How has your vision for your classroom changed? Are you going to need to make any changes to your classroom to accommodate the 21st Century learner?
  • I think that I am more open minded to technology, do I trust it No!!  I will continue to add technology lesson plans to my daily plans but also know that it will fail when I need it the most. It has in the past and it will continue into the future.  I love the ideas and thoughts presented just worry about relying on it.  No I don't think I will have to do much other than rely on SBISD to educate me and get me the technology for my classroom.
3. Where there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
  • No, with the friends that are so technology savvy that have shown me things throughout the years, I didn't think anything was to mind blowing.  I like that SBISD is trying to help the teachers who can then help the students, but I just hope we can continue updating the technology and add useful apps, websites and Docs.

Tool # 10

1. Discuss at least three things you would want to make sure your students understand about being good digital citizens.

  • How to protect their privacy
  • How to identify and prevent cyber bulling
  • How to evaluate a web site to see if is a good sourse
2. Share at least one of the resources mentioned above or on the Ed Tech website that you plan to use instructionally.
  • Rhonda's Reflection page has some useful information that I could use to educate myself and protect my students.
3. Explain briefly how you would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to your students.
  • I would use facts and examples as well as information given to me by SBISD and things that I had found to educate my students. Try to get them to understand that the internet is more than just a computer it is a connection to the rest of the world, but unlike verbal communication, once you type and hit enter you cannot deny that it was said, its there in black and white. Have a contract as well.
4. Explain briefly how you plan to share the idea of digital citizenship with your parents.
  • One way to share the idea of digital citizenship is to have the students go home and share it with their parents themselves. To build in accountability, the student would then be required to write a summary about what they talked about with their parents, what information was new to their parents, and what new information they learned from their parents.

Tool # 9

1. Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective?

  • First, it makes it more enjoyable and fun to learn. Second it keeps kids up to date with technology. It should keep students more focused on the lesson at hand.
2. Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers?
  • It is important to hold the students accountable for the stations/centers because you want your students to be involved in the station/center so that they can demonstrate mastery of the objective. You want your students to be engaged while in the station.
3. Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
  • Didn't find anything that will help me with Basketball or Student Leadership. But I know of apps for the IPad that we will use during basketball games and for stats (if I can finally get it). Something we use at half time or end of games and even during time-outs. You Tube, HULU or Channel websites are something we can use for Health Fitness & Athletics to get information across to them.
4. List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom. What do you see that station looking like? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
  • iLead365- Your Daily Personal Leadership Coach- Quotes and Positive Messages.
  • Disc Theory- Disc personality breakdown for classroom.
Stations can be set one IPad per station subsidized by personal IPads and cover each type of personality. They can be held accountable with Google Docs would be last station that they have to log into and answer questions for a grade or answer Open ended questions.

5.  What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students use. What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station.
  • I think it will be a good idea to have students use the i-touch to record each other performing however many push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, and squats they can do.

Tool # 8

After watching the videos, I learned that they must be plugged in other night to get their updates. Teachers must first download to their computer and then sync the information to the iPad. Our iTunes account has to be created through SBISD.

Tool # 6

Found 2 tools that allow instant feedback from students. Here are some samples!

Tool # 5

Coach Archie and me created this presentation using Animoto for our Sport Banquet on 2009-2010 season.

For this one I used Stupeflix. This is a very easy tool to use.
